Some of the sites i found to be really helpful and will use in the summer & winter reading programs. Del icio us was great. I love being able to access my bookmarks from any computer. The Big Hugs and toon do sites were a blast. Those I will probably use a lot more often. I hope everyone who is doing this project gets something useful out of it. I realize that not all of those who are participating will be able to have the time to do a lot of these after we are finished, but some of them could make life a little easier.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-7723191585010419832008-03-02T14:06:00.002-06:002008-03-02T14:10:15.081-06:00Thing 22This was for the most part a lot of fun. Some of the sites i will be using to create different things for Summer Reading. The trading cards and certificates look like they could really work out nice. I want to continue to do the blogg and add more things when I come across them. Some of the other sites we looked at I am already a part of like flicker, and I use Im and text messinging pretty much everyday. For me it is any easy way to keep in touch with my kids. At least then I know I can get information to them even though they are seldom at home.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-26168068464336786412008-03-02T14:02:00.001-06:002008-03-02T14:04:30.268-06:00Thing 21I did go onto NING and tried to get the badge to dowload, but it would not work. When I try tp paste it to my blog, it gives me an error. Can anyone tell me how to get this to work?jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-35594049417976659042008-03-02T11:39:00.002-06:002008-03-02T11:43:12.511-06:00Thing 20 MyspaceI don't see how this is really usefull for us. For one, you need to have the staff and time available to set up sites like this as well as maintain them. Some of the aspects could be usefull such as a book list of new items, or upcoming events. I can see it might work better at a bigger library, where they have the staff to do this, but in a small library, it just is not practical.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-42076601683452172702008-03-02T11:31:00.002-06:002008-03-02T11:34:22.956-06:00Thing 20 FacebookThis one I did just because it was one of the requirements. I personally do NOT like these social network sites. They are too open to everyone. I don't feel comfortable letting people see what I am doing all of the time. I prefer to use e-mail and IM to talk to my freinds.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-2583687691627016902008-03-02T11:08:00.003-06:002008-03-02T11:09:38.775-06:00Thing19I used yahoo for finding a podcast. It is really easy to use and it is one I am familiar with. I choose this cast because I like Alice Cooper. They didn't have the song I wanted, but this one will work too.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-29024385424017933452008-03-02T11:07:00.000-06:002008-03-02T11:08:00.871-06:00Thing 19http://www.medicinefilms.com/player.php?clip_id=188566jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-61749287231936921882008-02-24T11:35:00.002-06:002008-02-24T11:38:12.589-06:00Thing 18I chose this clip, because I thought it was cute. I like the Wallace & Gromit cartoons and this was one that was similar. As far as YouTube I generally don't go to this site. It does have some great things, but there are also things that I don't want to see. This is a site that if you have kids using you need to be watchful of what they are getting into.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-40806964666422624182008-02-24T11:34:00.000-06:002008-02-24T11:35:08.709-06:00Thing 18jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-45223179159137440262008-02-24T11:23:00.003-06:002008-02-24T11:27:38.819-06:00Thing 17This is a tool that I use already. It is really useful to students who are looking for specific topics. I know we have shown kids how to use many of the databases that are available. We have also shown teachers that this tool is also available. We are lucky to have a few of our teachers that want to encourage their students to use these resources that are available.

Worldcat I use all of the time just to check and see if different items are available, and where they might be found.

This is a tool I recomend that others become familiar with.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-47930922817788133752008-02-24T11:15:00.001-06:002008-02-24T11:17:22.770-06:00Thing 16This looks like a great tool for students and teachers, I just don't really see how effective it would be in a Public Library setting. This is one I would be willing to introduce to some of our teachers and their students.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-53941136869506488832008-02-23T21:52:00.001-06:002008-02-23T21:55:21.075-06:00Thing 15This was great!!! The pirate game was a blast. It is on the same version as runescape working with everyone online. It can get a little confusing until you figure out what it is you need to do, but overall a lot of fun. This is one I just might contine to play.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-90452755886520498482008-02-23T20:46:00.002-06:002008-02-23T20:49:37.410-06:00Thing 14Library thing is a really cool site. There is another site that is like this it is goodreads.com You can enter the books you have read and rate them. Your friends can also add books they have read and rate them. Everytime your friends enter new books they have read, you will get an e-mail letting you know what they have read and what they thought of the book. It may be another site some people want to check out.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-31821013947538725442008-02-23T20:26:00.002-06:002008-02-23T20:29:24.696-06:00Thing 13This one was interesting. I already have yahoo set up as my home page, so I didn't have to do anything there. You can also do the same type of layouts on MSN and other provider sites. I did mess around with backpack a little. This one got tagged for use in the future. It is great to be able to have all the information you need on one page and not have to wonder if you have everything you needed. DidI forget something? Is this the right place. How do I get to my destination? I love it!!jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-87507346848620355292008-02-23T20:15:00.002-06:002008-02-23T20:18:30.221-06:00Thinng 12I can see where this type of site would be a useful tool to find specific information you are looking for. It takes the most popular sites and articles and puts them all in one place for you. The only thing I can see that may be a problem if you are not aware of it is the accuracy of some of the content. I know it is not any different than what we are dealing with now by looking up information. People just need to be aware of the sources of the information.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-20243179592729679422008-02-17T12:24:00.002-06:002008-02-17T12:28:34.312-06:00Thing 11I did set up a delicious account. I love the idea of being able to access my bookmarks from any computer. I have run into the problem in the past where I had found a great site, but went to someone elses house and couldn't find it back. With this tool, I can now log into my favorite sites from anywhere. I love it!jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-29834006879592646402008-02-17T11:51:00.002-06:002008-02-17T11:54:10.511-06:00Thing 10The wiki sites aare great for coordinating events and plans, and even for general information. I don't feel real comfortable with changing somebody elses pages, but I can see where at times it could be very useful. I did go to the 23 things wiki, but I just posted a comment.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-86337573485995572542008-02-17T11:39:00.001-06:002008-02-17T11:41:09.184-06:00Thing 9This one was fun. The only problem was that you do need to sing up for an account in order to get permission to edit these documents. Not that big of a deal, but a little confusing at first.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-3623948764086151822008-02-17T10:57:00.002-06:002008-02-17T11:00:48.206-06:00Thing 7-2I can see where the IM reference would be a good idea, but it really doesn't work for thoses of us in smaller libraries. Most of us do not have specific people assigned to reference, or any one section of the library, we need to be able to do it all.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-58149879681585756192008-02-17T10:44:00.004-06:002008-02-17T10:57:15.717-06:00Thing 7-1I have a problem with this in the work place. In many situations, you run into two extremes. Either you have people who don't know how to even use email or IM or you have the ones that seem to always be in their email and nothing else. How can you create a happy medium?
When I'm at home i do use both of these tools to communicate with friends and family who are spread all over the place. It makes it really convenient to keep in touch and see what is going on. Most of the time at work, I don't have the time to check my mail let alone IM with anyone.jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-47396117096844249752008-02-10T12:51:00.000-06:002008-02-10T12:53:59.243-06:00toon time

jludwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09351674941292059754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1081759747368720582.post-79797836787483554712008-02-10T12:24:00.000-06:002008-02-10T12:27:17.431-06:00Thing 6 other projects

These could really be fun for the kids.
